iOS 27 is available to public, but if you want to get the new Siri AI, you need to join a waitlist first.

Siri AI requires joining waitlist in iOS 27

iOS 27 includes Siri AI, but only after you join a waitlist.

Before joining Siri AI waitlist, you need to ensure you have a compatible device. Apple limits the experience for users with an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, as it is the most “basic” device to get Apple Intelligence. However, to take advantage of all the features, including the Expressive Voices Preview announced during the WWDC 2026 keynote, you need an iPhone 17 Pro or another device with more than 12GB of RAM to run Siri’s new voice models.

After you check if you have a compatible iPhone, you also need to install iOS 27 on your iPhone.

How To Join Siri AI WaitList In The iOS 27

After installing iOS 27 on your iPhone, do this to join the waitlist:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Go to the new Siri menu in Settings
  3. Tap ‘Join Waitlist’
  4. Follow the prompts that pop up to officially join the waitlist

The process is very similar to the waitlist Apple used in iOS 18.1 for Apple Intelligence access.

There is no word yet on how long the wait will be, but Apple used a similar waitlist when rolling out Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. It could be a matter of hours for some of the first users to update to iOS 27.

Once you’ve joined the waitlist, Apple says you’ll be notified when ‘New Siri’ is available for your iPhone.

For me, I was able to join Siri AI waitlist right after downloading iOS 27, then waited up to 72 hours to get the new Siri AI interface.

Siri AI is free, but Apple does have daily limits on some capabilities like image generation. Opting into an iCloud+ subscription plan increases AI limits. Siri AI is limited to English (Australia, Canada, Ireland, India, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, U.S.), and it is not available in the European Union on the iPhone or the iPad, but EU users can try it on Mac. Siri AI is not available in China.

Have you managed to join Siri AI waitress on iOS 27 yet? Let us know in the comments.

As NerdsModo’s editor of how to content, I have to cover a wide variety of topics related to Apple products and also make our stories accessible to everyday users. Considering my history as a technical writer, copywriter, and all-around freelancer covering baseball, comics, and more at various outlets, I am used to making myself into an expert.

My job as how-to guru means I use just about every Apple product and service, so I can figure out how everything works. I work from a MacBook Air running macOS Tahoe, but also have a very large iMac and Apple silicon MacBook Pro. I also have an iPhone 16 Pro for personal use and use a iPhone 17 Pro Max for additional testing. For iPadOS coverage, an iPad Pro with M2 works like a charm, though it’s already becoming a little long in the tooth.

My desktop situation includes a dual display setup with an Apple Studio Display. I also use a Magic Trackpad, Magic Mouse and a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad (my favorite Apple keyboard; I love it but my wife hates it!). I’m a recent convert from wired headphones; I have AirPods Pro 3 for personal use and have taken to the AirPods Max 2 for work.

Whenever I have a second to myself, I’m probably gaming on my Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, or Xbox Series S. I also still have a bunch of classic consoles lying around as well.
